This is not a group, bus or river tour, your holiday is a personalized road trip covering areas that others cannot, stopping and exploring the real country as well as the main towns en-route, enjoy the freedom and attention that others dream of.
Expect to see flowers in baskets in the streets of medieval timber and stone as we travel the villages, towns across canals and through forests on this European trip. We meet you at the Amsterdam Schiphol airport or city location, where we then drive onto our first destination in Ghent, Belgium (see Tour itinerary) enabling you to explore this delightful City.
We spend time visiting and exploring the region inclusive of Delft, Bruges and narrow streeted medieval town of Lille. Our tour continues across the Scheldt Canal, and a visit to Chalons Champagne in France.
After sampling the Champagne, so famous from the region, our tour travels via Bouillon Castle on the Semois River in the Ardennes, through Sedan to include the Alsace food and wine region dating back to Roman times. Marvel at the castles located strategical through the many valley passes we enter, visit the fairytale towns through the region. Visit the Moselle River, the water city of Strasbourg then onto the Black Forest, sharing its wood crafts and fine views. We take in Riquewihr, Heidelberg, Bad Wildbad, Speyer, River Nahe and Barden Barden before traveling alongside the River Rhine to Koblenz, crossing the ‘Bridge to Far’ before the final stop being our return to the canal city of Amsterdam.
We find the house’s of Cuckoo Clocks, apple strudel, Black Forest cake, Belgium chocolates and sample the region’s wines. You relax as we travel along on this exciting holiday tour covering 4 countries, enabling you to mix with locals, see UNESCO sites and have your own personal driver/guide – unequaled by any other tour company.

Day One – Delft(27)
Meet and collect from the airport or city location, taking a southerly route we head for the picturesque town of Gouda taking in this mecca of Dutch cheese, after experiencing the town we drive onto Delft, there we have a free time hours to wander the streets and admire the canals and architecture of the eighteenth and nineteenth century, this is where we spend the first night in this delightful city.

Day Two – Ghent (28)
Free morning in Delft with time to visit the famous pottery with its blue and white signature ware, options available is to train to The Hague and visit this European Central City of commerce. Late afternoon we leave Delft and drive south to Ghent where we stay the night.

Day Three – Ghent (29)
The morning we leave Delft and travel across country around Rotterdam and Antwerp finally reaching Ghent. Free time where you are able to explore Ghent’s inner city, enjoying the cafe’s and shops.

Day Four – Ghent (30)
Free Day with a stroll to the Ghent Flower Show in Ghent, the five-yearly Ghent Flower Show with the participation of over 300 exhibitors from 13 countries and regions. According to the organizer, the 4.5 hectare exhibition area is the largest indoor garden of its kind.

Day Five – Ghent (01)
Free Day visiting the station then in the afternoon there is the option to visit Bruges with its inner city canals and quaint buildings before returning to Ghent in the afternoon with free time to discover new areas of Ghent and dinner in a local restaurant before a final stroll as you end your days in this city.

Day Six – Bouillon, Belgium (02)
The drive across Belgium taking in some of the beauty of this countryside before the Ardennes, to Bouillon a small riverside town set in a tranquil valley in the Ardennes forest on the river La Semois. On arrival we book into our hotel, giving free time to visit Bouillon Castle and enjoy a cool drink on the Patio prior to diner.

Day Seven – Troyes (03)
Today we leave Belgium driving West through Sedan, via Charleville-Mezieres across the French Belgian border on to Chalon-en-Champagne across country via the D760 into the pretty French town of Troyes. Free Time.

Day Eight – Troyes (04)
Free Day in Troyes. Located on the Seine river about 150 km southeast of Paris. This area is known as the Champagne region of Northern France, with vineyards covering the slopes of the Montgueux hillside, visible on the horizon to the west of Troyes. These vineyards are tended by around 20 winemakers, who produce the sparkling wine that has made the region famous throughout the world.

Day Nine – Troyes (05)
Free Day or while in the Troyes region we explore this champagne region visiting some of the many local vineyards in Les Riceys, before returning to the town to relax under the shady trees or sit on the verandah with Campari and Soda

Day Ten – Nancy (06)
We undertake a leisurely drive south through the rolling hills of rural France tracking the D60 our days run continues through the Forest of d’Orient before passing Neufchateau, arriving in Nancy the regional city for our over night stop. Freetime lets you explore the town and take in the ambience.

Day Eleven – Strasbourg (07)
Our trip takes us on a short road trip via Riquewihr to Strasbourg, we follow the B roads criss crossing the Rhine river where we stop and take in the atmosphere of this mighty river which flows through Germany. On arrival gives free time for you to explore the city with its waterways and medieval structures, admire the architecture and enjoy the cafe’s and restaurants.

Day Twelve – Strasbourg (08)
Today is a free day in Strasbourg the option to consider a canal trip of the city or a leisurely stroll through the shopping centres of the city, with its Basilique St Epvre, Cathedral and Museum of fine Arts.

Day Thirteen – Black Forest (09)
We spend the morning continuing to visit the city before leaving Strasbourg and drive via Lahr to the region known as the Black Forest where you have free time to enjoy the ambiance and sights of the treed hilltops.

Day Fourteen – Black Forest (10)
Free day or the opportunity to engage with the Black Forest with the options of walk trails, locations to visit or a drive through the region. Time to visit the world of Cuckoo Clocks at Schonach Schwarzwald and the other visitors centres in this well renowned region.

Day Sixteen – Heidelberg (12)
Leaving the Black Forest we take the country route through Freudenstadt then across to Baden Baden on the Oos River, with its park like town’s central promenade and the Versailles inspired casino. Its Trinkhalle has a loggia decorated with frescoes and a mineral-water fountain. From Baden Baden we cross the Rhine to Speyer a town developed by the Romans and is considered one of the oldest towns in Germany. Arriving in the gem town of Heidelberg. With free time to take in the city and dinner at a local restaurant.

Day Seventeen – Heidelberg (13)
Free time to spend the morning visiting the Castle, bridges and cafe strip of this quaint town set on the banks of the Rhine river, you may visit the town squares surrounded with cafe’s and medieval timber structures. A stroll along the river banks in the evening will highlight the Castle which is lit up during tourist season. Today was about exploring this famous river side city.

Day Eighteen – Koblenz (14)
Today is about criss crossing the Rhine river while heading for the city of Koblenz via Rudesheim with its vineyards, castles and quaint township. Arriving you have free time to visit the city exploring the Fortress and museums of the region.

Day Nineteen – Maastricht (15)
Time to leave Koblenz as we make our way to the Dutch city of Maastricht via Nuerburg, Schleiden and Eupen arriving in this town made notable over recent years by the conductor extraordinaire Andre Rieu. Free time on arrival gives the late afternoon and evening to take in this city set on the Maas River, visit the Rieu centre and La bonbonnière theatre.

Day Twenty – Amsterdam (16)
Today we drive via the Maas River, Holland onto Eindhoven where the famous battles of WW2 known as a ‘Bridge too Far’ before arriving in Amsterdam late afternoon and the conclusion of this exciting road trip to the Black Forest and back across country roads, rivers and visiting the real country with its village beauty. We arrive arrive in Amsterdam mid afternoon with free time on the completion of the trip.
