Great road trip in an OPTIONAL prestige TVR sports car (or standard vehicle) from Paris to Paris return, driving to the Provence region of Southern France, visiting medieval towns of beauty, French countryside with its cheeses, flowers, waterways, golf clubs, wineries and picnic spots, small villages, café’s, vineyards, market towns and Regional Capital-Avignon with its Palais des Papes.
The City of Arles has a long history, and was of considerable importance in the Roman province of Gallia Narbonensis. The Roman and Romanesque Monuments of Arles are listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The Dutch post-Impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh lived in Arles in 1888–1889 Visit the international photography festivals which are held in the city.
Visiting Uzes in southern France we enjoy the town of small shops and the 2000 year old Pont du Gard, Uzes city retains the trace of its walls as a circuit of boulevards. A Capuchin chapel, built in 1635 to house the mortal remains of the dukes, occupies the site of a 1st-century AD temple dedicated to the first Roman Emperor, Augustus.
Our days find us visiting numerous locations in southern France including the Knights Templars, coloured sands of Roussillon, Aigues Morts, Gordes and Les Baux to name a few.

Day 1
Arriving at either London or Paris CDG airport, return.
From Charles De Gaul airport Paris we drive south to the regional Capital Dijon famous for its Mustard and set in central France. There will be time to walk the city and visit the Cathedrals, cafés and shopping center of this renowned city. The suggest hotel will provide a well-deserved rest in local style with meals to match, located in the heart of the city.

Day 2
We continue to drive south arriving at the walled city of Avignon where we spend three nights. The city famous for its partial bridge across the mighty Rhone River. The City plays an important historical part with the Papal chain and the Catholic Church, good shopping, local cafés and historic adventure all in easy reach of the selected hotel offering free WIFI, swimming pool, bar, relaxed surroundings and providing local and International dining experiences. Avignon with its Palace is a regional center offering a large range of activities all within easy reach.

Day 3
Using Avignon as a base we drive to visit the interesting mountain villages where rock buildings are abundant, we visit the coloured sand mountains of the region while enjoying local Cafés and cuisine. Market day at the L’lsle sur la Sorgue is an experience as you wander the stalls set around the medieval church filled with wonder. We return to our hotel to enjoy an evening in the City square while enjoying a meal.

Day 4
Heading west to the pretty village of Uzes, after a wander through the village we take to the River Gard, taking a double canoe and following the river for a 90 minute trip through the country side of Southern France where two thousand years earlier the locals with Roman influence developed the region. We float under the massive awe inspiring Pont De Gard; being a triple deck Roman built stone aqueduct used to let water flow from one side of the hillside to the other. Once we dock we are transported with the canoe back to our start point and car. Returning to our hotel for a rest and evening meal.

Day 5
We travel through the Provence via Beaucaire to the city of Arles. Tarascon Castle is a must visit with a climb to the battlements and a view across the red roofs of the town to distant hills. There is the twin Castle across the River Rhone being Beaucaire where we may see the flying falcons. Sitting alongside the canal, reviewing the colourful barges moored in this interesting town. Arriving in Arles we settle in the suggested hotel in the city center and a stroll through the town flowed by diner either on the terrace or in a local cafés.

Day 6
As we stay for the next 4 nights in Arles using the hotel as a restful base we today make a short looping drive taking in a small village where a local beer under the tall Plain Trees that cover the square. The day takes onto the lovely town of St Remy de Provence where we will visit the Lavender press, cobbled streets adorned with local shops and restaurants and if scheduled the running of the Bulls a unique spectical and an annual event. We return to Arles and a well-deserved rest on the terrace.

Day 7
Market day in Arles, one of the best local markets in France it caters for all sectors of outdoor markets including vegetables, meals, cheeses, wine’s, clothes, antiques, animals etc. making it a good visual experience bring France to your figure tips. From the markets we visit the Roman Arene’s d’Arles and amphitheatre, follow Van Gogh trail through the region, take in the Museum of the Antiques before the day is over and time for rest before another interesting day ahead.

Day 8
From Arles we head through the Rhone River delta known as the ‘de Camargue’ where pink Flamingo’s and other wild water birds make home, then there are the Camargue horses, white or grey galloping through the shallow waters of the region make this part of the country a different experience. We visit St Gilles on the way to the Walled town of Aigues-Mortes set on the Mediterranean and the Canal du Rhone. History states that the Knights of the Templar were very active in this region which makes this town a worthy visit. We travel back to Arles via the Camargue offering a local Camargue horse ride for those that wish.

Day 9
Staying for the last day in Arles we head south to the Venice of France the town of Martigue with a Mediterranean visit to the fishing village of Carrie le Rouet with its transparent waters and coloured fishing boats. Heading North around the Etang de Berre to Eyguieres and Maussane we stop to enjoy the local area and a quite drink under the large Plain Trees of the area before head back to Arles along tree lined country roads.

Day 10
Leaving the magical city of Arles we drive north before turning West to a small town of Paray le Monial set on the side of the La Bourbince River, with its quaint buildings and cafés offering you a rare insight into the central French country side with its canals and rivers running through the rolling country side. The right spot for a picnic may be found enabling you to feel at peace with the day. The centrally located hotel which can be selected which includes a Michelin Guide restaurant for a delightful meal in this Saint filled town.

Day 11
Leaving Paray le Monial behind we drive to Paris along the motorways taking us directly into the heart of the City, driving around the Arch de Triumph and arriving at the selected hotel within easy walking distance of the Louvre and all the other visitor attractions. Leaving you to explore this great City and take a taxi or other form of transport to CDG airport on completing your personal Paris stay.
